Wapato WineTrail

Located at the north end of Yakima Valley, four wineries comprise the Wapato WineTrail. Although all feature fruit from the Yakima Valley, each winery is distinctly different in winemaking styles and presentation. That's what makes this venture a "can't miss" stop along I-82 from exits 40 to 44. The Wapato WineTrail will expose you to a winery owned by a world power in the spirits and wine trade, as well as to a small family-owned winery that produces less than 2,000 cases annually. You will visit a winery that relies on Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired architecture, and an old-fashioned one residing in an historic mercantile shop. While at Windy Point Winery, be sure and soak in the panoramic view of the Yakima Valley. Framed by Rattlesnake Hills to the east and Horse Heaven Hills to the south, you can see the Yakima River at the center of the Valley snaking its way to the Columbia. With rich earth on either side of the river, you have the perfect formula for wine grapes. Just add sunlight and a winemaker's magic, and you have the ideal ingredients for premium wines.
