Sunnyslope WineTrail

OK, if you have limited time and can’t hit all Idaho wineries, here’s a WineTrail tip: Tour the Sunnyslope WineTrail. Nearby Boise offers plenty of great places to stay with easy access to this agriculture heartland. With the Snake River meandering its way for hundreds of miles through it, the Sunnyslope area is a patchwork quilt of farms, with potato fields, fruit orchards and well-groomed vineyards. Here you’ll find the state’s oldest wineries and vineyards, including its biggest winery, Ste. Chapelle Winery, and a wide array of red and white wines using (for the most part) premium grapes from the Snake River Valley AVA. With rolling hills aplenty, you can opt to bring your bike along for some guaranteed aerobic workouts. If hunger pangs hit after all that swirling and sipping, check out the Orchard House Restaurant (located within spitting distance of Koenig Distillery & Winery and Williamson Orchards & Vineyards), or for some good ol’ home cooking, eat at Brick 29 Bistro in Nampa. Both feature locally grown foods and wines from the Sunnyslope WineTrail wineries.
