Salem – Monmouth WineTrail
One of the great joys of WineTrails of Oregon is the discovery of the old and the new. By that I mean the established winery bonded more than 30 years ago and the new winery that just opened its doors. In the case of the Salem – Monmouth WineTrail, wine tourists can check out the Honeywood Winery established in 1933 (that’s not a typo) and the recently bonded Emerson Vineyards in Monmouth. Both have a story to tell. Both have their own signature wines that are totally different and appeal to different tastes. Aside from these wineries, visitors will enjoy the spectacular vistas that Willamette Valley Vineyards, Ankeny Vineyard, and Airlie Winery offer, as well as the down-home friendliness provided by Vitae Springs Vineyard.
If time permits, check out Salem for restaurants, artisan shops and a jaunt through the State Capitol grounds. This gives you a big dose of art and history and arms you well for the wine journey ahead.
