North Idaho WineTrail
Stretching from Sandpoint in the north to Lewiston in the south, the North Idaho WineTrail offers a number of remarkable wine stops to experience — that’s in addition to its sparkling lakes, rugged mountains, and destination resort towns. Working your way from north to south on U.S. Highway 95, you will visit four distinguished wineries. Pend d ‘Oreille Winery’s location in the energetic town of Sandpoint is ideal for outdoor adventurers. If you are there in the winter, plan on après-ski wine tasting. If time and budget permit, book an overnight stay at Coeur d’Alene Resort and experience this quaint city, with its abundance of restaurants, art galleries, and parks. But first enjoy the gorgeous wines at Coeur d’Alene Cellars. The college town of Moscow is a fun stop, and Camas Prairie Winery’s location in downtown Moscow may encourage WineTrail trekkers to don their sneakers for brisk walk around the University of Idaho campus nearby. The final stop along this WineTrail is historic Lewiston. This geologic wonderland was the site of nearly 100 acres of premium wine grapes in the early 1900s. However, there’s no truth to the rumor that Lewis and Clark’s Corps of Discovery stopped here to purchase cabernet sauvignon.
