Bear Creek Valley WineTrail
If you’re planning a trip to the Rogue Valley for wine touring I am immensely jealous. The fact is, I love this wine country region and can return again and again to sample the wines, take in a Shakespeare play, enjoy a splendid meal at one of the region's many fine restaurants, bike the Bear Creek Greenway Trail, and more.
The Bear Creek Valley WineTrail runs north and south through the Rogue Valley. I-5 runs parallel for many miles. From the Del Rio Vineyards and Winery in the north to Weisinger’s of Ashland in the south, the Bear Creek Valley WineTrail includes nine wineries featuring grape varietals from this region. The Rogue Valley got its federal designation in 2001 as an American Viticultural Area and distinguishes itself from other Oregon regions as the warm-weather grape area. Prepare your palate for merlot, cabernet sauvignon, pinot noir, syrah, chardonnay, pinot gris, riesling, cabernet franc, viognier, and tempranillo.
O thou invisible spirit of wine! If thou hast no name to be known by, let us call thee devil! William Shakespeare 1564–1616 Othello [1604–1605], act II, sc. iii, l. 285
