Wine Country Farm Cellars

Are you looking for a wine country experience that includes a great place to stay? Do you have a wedding in your future and need a romantic setting for it? Or maybe you just like going to wineries with spectacular views, gardens to explore, and an Arabian horse or two to view. If any of these criteria apply, Wine Country Farm Cellars is the place for you.

Owner Joan Davenport bought the 13-acre farm in 1990, and she’s still living the dream. The property features the second-oldest vineyard in the Dundee Hills (planted in 1970), a bed-and-breakfast, and a barn built in 1870, in which Joan houses her Arabian horses. This is a destination winery. You can arrive Friday, depart on Sunday, and never leave the property except perhaps to make a foray into Dundee or nearby McMinnville for a meal. While at Wine Country Farm, you can enjoy the hot tub, catch up on movies, ride a horse, retreat with coworkers, or get married. If you should opt to read a book, you might want to read 1,000 Places to See Before You Die by Patricia Schultz — one of the destinations listed is Wine Country Farm. It is without doubt a most romantic setting.

The Wine Country Farm Bed & Breakfast features nine exquisite rooms, each uniquely decorated and appointed. Rooms, with nightly rates ranging from $150 to $225, have all the creature comforts, including Internet access (which is really convenient if you just happen to be writing a guidebook about wine touring in Oregon). Make an effort to visit the Arabian horses in the barn; they’re a beautiful sight to behold with their distinctive small heads and large nostrils.

A separate room in the compound houses the winery’s tasting room. For a refundable $5 tasting fee, visitors can sample a variety of wines created by Alberto Alcazar. Wines to be swirled and sipped include riesling, Müller-Thurgau (including a Müller-Thurgau dessert wine), chardonnay, and pinot noir.
