The Tasting Room - Wines of Washington

Take seven outstanding Washington wineries of which winemaker and owner for each are one and the same, put them in an historic building in the heart of Seattle’s Pike Place Market, and you have The Tasting Room – Wines of Washington. The brainchild of one of the seven owners/winemakers, Paul Beveridge of Wilridge Winery, The Tasting Room is a perfect spot for those who want to sample great wine without driving to Port Angeles or Walla Walla.

Within its cozy setting, The Tasting Room features Apex Cellars, Camaraderie Cellars, Harlequin Wine Cellars, JM Cellars, Latitude 46 N, Wilridge Winery, and Wineglass Cellars. You can sample wines for a small fee or buy a glass to enjoy with the selection of gourmet meats and cheeses it offers. WineTrail Note: Speaking of cheese, The Tasting Room has collaborated with Pike Place Market neighbor Beecher’s Handmade Cheese to offer “Mac-n-Cheese Mondays.” Who knew that this classic staple would dance so well with a reserve red?

The Tasting Room goes out of its way to educate and inform wine enthusiasts about making wine. It also hosts events that place their wines center stage. For example, you can join winemaker and owner Don Corson of Camaraderie Cellars and blend your own signature wine in his “Palate and Palette Blending” series. The Tasting Room also does an excellent job of making you feel like a member of its community through emails that alert you to winemaker dinners, special events, and good buys on wine. Private parties and corporate events are welcome at The Tasting Room, where its space can accommodate 50 sit-down guests.

From destemming to crushing, fermenting to racking, these winemakers have been intimately involved in their wines every step of the way. They are proud parents of their own “offspring,” but are quick to acknowledge each other’s accomplishments and special gifts. Any time of the year, The Tasting Room is a place for friends and business associates to gather, kick back, and enjoy the low-hanging fruits of Washington.
