The Four Graces

Named in honor of owners Steve and Paula Black’s four daughters — Alexis, Vanessa, Christiana, and Jillian — the Four Graces tasting room is located just off Hwy. 99W in Dundee. The white bungalow-style home exudes charm and refinement. Everything from the French doors leading to the outside patio, to the decorative molding and the tasteful artwork on the inside speaks of elegance. This sets the stage for what visitors have anticipated — fine wines.

It was Steve and Paula’s vision to launch a winery as a legacy for their children. The Blacks have a ready source of premium wine grapes in their two organic and biodynamic estate vineyards, Black Family Estate Vineyard and Doe Ridge Estate. However, to turn fruit into fine wine, the Blacks rely on winemaker/consultant Laurent Montalieu. As would be expected in this northern Willamette Valley region, the Four Graces produces lots of pinot: Black Family Estate Pinot Noir, Dundee Hills Reserve Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley Pinot Noir, Dundee Hills Pinot Gris, and Dundee Hills Pinot Blanc. The end result is liquid elegance.

WineTrail note: Turns out the Black sisters have a brother named Nicholas. By no means forgotten, Nicholas is on the reserve wine labels as “Keeper of the Four Graces.”

In welcoming visitors to their winery’s website, Steve and Paula note, “Though it’s not quite possible to invite the world to our table, The Four Graces is our family’s way of sharing with you our passion for loving life and each other. So have a seat. Pour yourself a glass of one of our delightful pinots. And make a toast with us to this good life.”

Sustainable viticulture meets sustainable elegance.
