Saint Laurent Winery

The views from Saint Laurent Winery are truly stunning. So stunning that you’ll need to remind yourself you’re here for the wine. Still, if you didn’t bring a picnic, make a mental note to bring food next time, so you can eat al fresco and take in the scenery.

An interesting fact about Saint Laurent Winery is that Laura Laurent-Mrachek is its horticulturist and her husband, Mike Mrachek, is the vintner. This great pairing has succeeded in growing 240 acres of amazing fruit and transforming their wine grapes into award-winning wines 3,500 cases strong.

Visiting Saint Laurent is great anytime, but you can plan your tour to coincide with one of many events offered. For example, Saint Laurent hosts a “Dinner and a Movie Night” during the summer, which may pair barbecued chicken and cornbread with cabernet sauvignon while watching Walk the Line. The winery’s summer concert series showcases local bands performing with a backdrop of the Wenatchee Valley; it’s nice to watch the valley fade as night sets in and the stars take over. During the summer, take time to stroll through the winery’s European-style garden. When the weather gets cooler, many of the winery events shift to a rustic barn. For example, you can sip wine and enjoy the Apple Cup, toasty warm, with the Dawgs and the Cougs. But Saint Laurent’s tasting room itself is one of the highlights of the visit. Housed in a Victorian-style house, the room is “cozy comfortable.” Laura often takes off her horticultural hat to pour wine and entertain the winery’s many visitors.

By the way, did you know that Saint Laurent is the patron saint of vintners and cooks? In the month of August, A.D. 25, Saint Laurent (aka Laurence, Laurent, Laurentius, Lawrence of Rome, Lorenzo) was roasted to death on a gridiron. Since then, cooks and vintners have claimed Saint Laurent as their patron saint. If you look closely at the Saint Laurent wine label, you will find a replica of the gridiron on which Saint Laurent was barbequed. Ouch. Yes, we know it’s gruesome but it does get you thinking about barbecued ribs to pair with Saint Laurent cabernet sauvignon.
