Ryan Patrick Vineyards

Although its winemaking facilities are in nearby Cashmere, Ryan Patrick Vineyards’ primary tasting room is in the heart of Bavarian-inspired Leavenworth. From time to time, you can find owner Terry Flanagan pitching in at the new tasting room, but you are more likely to find his wife, Vivian, pouring. When not at the tasting room, Terry is often making wine at their Cashmere facility or tending to his vineyards whereas the winemaking chores are the domain of one of Washington’s up-and-coming stars, Craig Mitrakul (owner of Cashmere-based Crayelle Cellars). The winery is the namesake of the couple’s two sons, Ryan and Patrick.

Their estate wines use fruit grown from two separate family-owned vineyards: The Bishop’s Vineyard (20 acres of chardonnay, cabernet sauvignon, merlot and cabernet franc) and The Homestead Vineyard (25 acres of exquisite chardonnay). Low yields in the vineyard, combined with prime locations for heat and sunlight, produce concentrated fruit for Terry. For fans of white wine, be sure to sample both the naked (unoaked) and the oaked chardonnay. The brightly crisp naked chardonnay pairs with Thai, summer salads and fish tacos. Whereas the creamier and layered oaked chardonnay can readily take on Fettuccini Alfredo or your grandmother’s turkey casserole dish.

And for the fans of red wine, be sure and sample the Rock Island Red a voluptuous blend of cabernet sauvignon, merlot, and cabernet franc. If you can’t decide between red or white, no worries: Ryan Patrick’s dry rosé is the perfect antidote for that chicken quesadilla waiting at home.

The Leavenworth tasting room is ideally located on Front Street below Visconti’s Italian Restaurant. However, if you happen to be going by Cashmere (we can’t get enough Aplets and Cotlets) the Ryan Patrick winery/tasting room is a light-filled space to relax and enjoy great wine.
