Page Cellars Winery

We all have a special person in our life who makes us feel at home when we visit. They’re attentive to our needs and genuinely interested in making sure we’re comfortable. They talk to us as if there was no one else in the room. Such is the gift of Rothelle Page as she welcomes visitors to Page Cellars’ tasting room, and her warm reception makes this visit especially memorable. (This gift must be infectious, because her able staff, including longtime family friend John, also engage you with attentive eyes.)

Rothelle is a self-described winery diva, responsible for managing the tasting room, wine distribution, marketing, public relations, paying bills and making sure the glasses are clean at the end of the day. She’s pressed (no pun intended) into service because her husband, Jim Page, is a corporate pilot when he isn’t a winemaker in training. While Jim’s racking up virtual frequent flyer miles, Rothelle is tending the fire back home. And what a nice fire it is!

Experiencing Page Cellars is like going to a Mariners game and watching a rookie called up to the majors and hitting three homers in his first game. Despite the fact that Jim is still learning the ropes, Page Cellars has brought home hardware from several prestigious wine-tasting events, including the Indiana State Fair as well as competitions in Florida and Texas. As you sample Page Cellars’ delicious “Preface” cabernet sauvignon or its “Luscious” syrah, you quickly realize why the winery is winning such accolades. Ever one to be humble, Rothelle is quick to point out that the medals are a result of using the best grapes harvested from Red Mountain and Yakima Valley and the best winemaking talent, in particular Matt Loso of Matthews Cellars fame. Currently, Matt is the lead winemaker at Page Cellars, and Jim is the apprentice. Guidance from other winemakers, such as Eric Dunham and Greg Lill, has also been of great help.

WineTrail trekkers are advised that they will be treated with great care when they visit Page Cellars. But unlike home, you won’t need to take your shoes off at the front door.
