Knight Hill Winery
Unedited
As they say, “A knight without wine is like a day without sunshine!” Well, at least that is what Terry and Anne Harrison say, proprietors of a relatively new winery in the northern reaches of Zillah.
Perhaps the first thing that grips you when you visit Knight Hill Winery is the tremendous view. I’d say ‘breathtaking’ but then that’s a little too hackneyed. The second thing to hit your radar is a German Shepherd but don’t be alarmed. She’s friendly and she comes equipped with the name Dixie.
Inside the light filled tasting room, Anne is usually doing the pouring honors of a small but respectable portfolio of wine. While their own vineyard matures, they rely on grapes procured from other Yakima Valley grape growers with names such as StoneTree Vineyards, Two Mountain Vineyard and Sugarloaf Vineyards.
Terry is the winemaker and keeper of the vines. I suspect in between racking, bottling and labeling he looks out toward the southern reaches of the Yakima Valley and realizes that he wouldn’t have it any other way. It’s a nice space to be in.
