John Michael Champagne Cellars

John Michael Champagne Cellars is a boutique winery producing various champagnes and still wines. The tasting room is located on the vineyard side of the property, offering a spectacular view of Applegate Valley and Grayback Mountain. John Michael’s specialty is “sparklers,” and visitors can enjoy a number of sparkling surprises, including sparkling sake. Sparkling sake? Yep, and there’s more. How about its sparkling Blanc de Blanc? Clearly, John Michael Champagne Cellars is a distinctive stop along the Applegate Valley WineTrail.

Situated on a bench bordering Humbug Creek Road (love that name), John Michael Champagne Cellars features a vineyard of neatly kept rows of premium grapes and the Giudici family home, which doubles as a winery/tasting room. Open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday, the tasting room also features a hand-blown glass gallery. Check out the sconces gracing the walls.

Michael Giudici, John Michael Champagne Cellars’ owner/winemaker, produces a full range of sparkling and still wines. But as his awards attest, he is most renowned for his wines of the sparkling variety. WineTrail enthusiasts can sample his product at a great price — for free.
