Horizon's Edge Winery

Got a sweet tooth? If so, Horizon’s Edge Winery, along the Rattlesnake Hills South WineTrail, might be just what the doctor ordered. Try Horizon’s Edge ice wine, Nouveaux Riche, port, or cream sherry to satisfy that sweet tooth. On the other hand, if you’re not in a sweet mood, winemaker/owner David Padgett has Bordeaux-style estate wines to meet your needs.

If you are familiar with sister winery of Horizon’s Edge – Maison de Padgett—you will recognize that the labels are unmistakably David Padgett’s handiwork. Adjectives such as whacky, unorthodox, and whimsical might spring to mind as you gaze at the label of “Brittney’s Butterfly” ice wine. You will also notice that this is a working winery, from vineyard to bottling. To those wine lovers who have grown used to business-park wineries, where the continuity from vineyard and winemaking is broken, Horizon’s Edge will be a new experience. Adjacent to the winery are 18 acres of Yakima Valley wine grapes for Horizon’s Edge use. Assuming there are 3 tons of grapes per acre, that’s 108,000 pounds of grapes by our way of reckoning. Incidentally, if you hold a Rattlesnake Hills Passport, you will get 12 percent off wine purchases increased to 15 percent for a case of wine.

While you satisfy your sweet tooth, make sure you take time to enjoy the views of Mount Rainier and Mount Adams on the horizon’s edge.
