Heymann Whinery
With the slogan “We can help you whine!” Bob and Flossie Heymann clearly convey their vision for Heymann Whinery: Don’t take things—including wine— too seriously. Heymann Whinery’s new tasting room location is in Centralia, on South Tower. As you will discover, it is much more than a tasting room. Yes, you can sample winemaker Bob’s many berry wines and Bordeaux-style wines, but you also can purchase a wide variety of wine- and beer-related merchandise. This is also where you can purchase beer- and wine-making equipment and supplies. Heymann has everything you need to be the neighborhood winemaker.
From refrigerator magnets (the type with quotations like “I love to cook with wine. Sometimes I even put it in the food.”) to Betty Boop wine stoppers, Scorned Woman’s Fudge, wine jelly, and sweet ’n’ hot mustard, it’s easy to shop for your favorite wine- (and beer-) loving uncle. But many visitors come to Heymann Whinery for Bob’s fruit wines, which include cranberry, raspberry, cherry, apricot, and blackberry wines, all made from Washington state fruit. However, for those WineTrail trekkers who want to stick with grape wines, Bob relies on grapes from the Yakima Valley to make his chardonnay, cabernet sauvignon, merlot, sauvignon blanc, and riesling.
Warning: Cork dorks will need to check their attitude at the door; you’re entering a No Whining Zone.
