Hamilton Cellars

Unedited

With its opening at Queensgate Village, Richland’s nightlife got a much-needed shot in the arm. Stacie and Russ Hamilton made several strategic moves at the beginning to position Hamilton Cellars as a serious newcomer to the wine industry.

Key among those moves was choosing a celebrated winemaker whose wines that enjoyed over the years – Charlie Hoppes. With Charlie’s extensive resume including his background at Chateau Ste. Michelle and his own label, Fidelitas, the Hamiltons nailed down the key ingredient needed for a successful winery.

Another key decision involved setting aside a big chunk of the tasting room for club members only. The so-called “Miltonaires Club” members imbibe in an exclusive area complete with restaurant style seating and an outdoor covered patio area with a fire pit. What’s more, they can order small plates of nibblies to pair with their wine if hunger calls. (By the way, the name “Milton” that’s part of the Club’s name refers to the Milton stick figure that adorns their label.)

In terms of the wine, don’t you dare leave the premise without trying the Hamilton Cellars Malbec. This raspberry ripe, juicy wine with tamed tannins, is wonderful. The combination of great fruit (Connor Lee Vineyard and Snipes Canyon Vineyard) and Charlie’s winemaking prowess are responsible for this beauty. Priced at 30 bones a bottle (15% discount for Miltonaires) this wine is the perfect antidote for the grilled sirloin you have in mind.
