Grande Ronde Cellars
Started in 1997, Grande Ronde Cellars was the inspiration of four partners: Dave Westfall, Michael Manz, John Mueller, and J. David Page. It was Michael Manz, however, that became the heart and sole (and winemaker) for Grande Ronde Cellars and moonlighted as the vintner for Mountain Dome. Unfortunately, Michael’s untimely death in 2007 resulted in a huge loss for Grande Ronde Cellars. Nevertheless, the remaining team is committed to producing premium wines and permit Michael’s legacy to live on.
The winery is named for eastern Oregon’s Grande Ronde River. Its tasting room is located in downtown Spokane and has the distinguished feature of offering a portfolio of wines from Grande Ronde Cellars, Mountain Dome, Vin du Lac, and Masset wineries. If you don’t have time to visit the Yakima Valley or Lake Chelan, Grande Ronde Cellars can bring them to you ... in a bottle. That being the case, many intrepid WineTrail enthusiasts visit the tasting room to sample Grande Ronde’s own cabernet sauvignon, merlot, chardonnay, and Bordeaux blends. Walla Walla Valley is the source of most of the grapes used by Grande Ronde Cellars.
The downstairs tasting room also features a banquet area that can comfortably sit 20 guests. If you have a desire to host a sit-down dinner paired with premium wines, talk to Dave Westfall at Grande Ronde Cellars.
