Eaton Hill Winery

Eaton Hill Winery is located in the restored Rinehold Cannery building, originally built by Floyd Rinehold for his bride, Emma Eaton, in the early 1900s. The structure itself is worth the trip, and you’ll want to spend some time outside the building to study its elegant architecture. If this building looks familiar, you may have seen it on a wall calendar or a coffee-table book. Clearly, Floyd Rinehold was a master builder of his era. The interior of this former fruit and vegetable cannery provides ample space for Eaton Hill wines and merchandise.

Ed and JoAnn Stear own both this historic Yakima Valley property and Eaton Hill Winery. Launched in 1988, Eaton Hill features a wide range of wines, including but not limited to cabernet sauvignon, chardonnay, gewürztraminer, semillon, muscat canelli, chenin blanc, and sauvignon blanc. During my visit, I had the huge pleasure of meeting JoAnn who gave me a tour of the production facility and regaled me with the wonderful history of the property and their personal adventure. You really appreciate the fact that its people like Ed and JoAnn who really pioneered the Yakima Valley wine industry.

While any time of the year is great to visit this Granger, WA winery, the fall really sparkles with Yakima Valley’s finest. With orange pumpkins, wilted corn stalks, fresh picked apples and the grape harvest to celebrate, Eaton Hill Winery has it all. The sights, smells and nip of fall all pairs perfectly with Eaton Hill’s cabernet sauvignon.
