C.R. Sandidge Wines

The story behind C.R. Sandidge Winery is Ray Sandidge himself. End of story. Some wineries are more like companies and survive despite losing their winemakers. However, the heartbeat of C.R. Sandidge is Ray. We can only hope that he doesn’t win the lottery and move to Australia and start “C.R. Sandidge Down Under.”

At the Manson tasting room on Wapato Way, visitors experience Ray’s exceptional reds, including syrah, his red blend “Tri*Umph,” or “Stone Tree” red. However, don’t neglect Ray’s viognier, with its pronounced flavors of ripe peach. My personal favorite is the Tri*Umph which has a hefty price tag of $50 a bottle. (Note: you can save 10 smackaroos off the retail price of Tri*Umph by joining their wine club.) At a more wallet-friendly price, the Whistle Punk Red is just $18 a bottle.

WineTrail Tip: Try this pairing on for size: an 8-oz. grilled lamb brochette served on sautéed apple and sweet potato slices with a glass of C.R. Sandidge “Tri*Umph.”
