One of Idaho’s top winemakers, Melanie Krause produces small lots of wine at the Urban Winemakers Cooperative, located in Garden City, near Boise. Melanie’s winemaking résumé includes stints at Chateau Ste. Michelle’s Canoe Ridge Estate Winery and Northstar Winery, both in Washington state. Melanie chose the name “Cinder” for the layers of volcanic soil found under Idaho vineyards. From the for-what-it's-worth column, Cinder wines are among the best in Idaho in my opinion!

Directions: Located at the Urban Winemakers Cooperative in Garden City near neighboring Boise. From downtown Boise take I-184 and bear right onto US-20 [US-26] and go about 1.5 miles. Turn right onto E 44th St. and arrive at Urban Winemakers Cooperative in the old Quality Produce building.
