Anton Ville Winery

Unedited

The winery was the brainchild of founders Andrew and Janiece Haug who honored Andrew’s Norwegian grandfather Tony by referencing his name in the title – Anton Ville. Grandfather Tony was a meticulous carpenter and it’s this level of attention to detail that Andrew brought to the creation of his wines. Unfortunately, Andrew Haug's premature death soon after the launch of Anton Ville Winery left the challenge of running a winery to Janiece.

However, a visit to the tasting room indicates that by all accounts Janiece has embraced her life’s test.

Anton Ville Winery differs from every tasting room you will visit in the Warehouse District. First, each serving of their wines – starting with their blend of riesling/viognier dubbed Harmony (love the name) and concluding with their cabernet sauvignon features a wine and food pairing. Not to worry if you have dinner plans; the tiny morsels of crackers and chocolates won’t fill you up. Rather, they compliment the wine by bringing out the flavor, the mouth-feel or the finish of the wine.

A second unusual feature of this tasting room is the fact that it’s a storefront for Janiece’s other passion – imported items from Southeast Asia that make a home decorator’s mind swirl. From woodcarvings to unusual baskets visitors gawk in wonderment at the artisan craftsmanship on display.
