'37 Cellars
Although 37’ Cellars is an “open by appointment only” winery don’t let that deter you. After all, splendor is just a phone call away. What’s more, owners Frank Dechaine and Chuck Egner are often around and if given enough warning will do what they can to accommodate your visit.
Don’t let the fact that 37’ Cellars is a few miles outside of town high on a hillside with an oh-my-god view deter you either. You’ll need a GPS and you’ll swear that the directions are wrong but stay with it – eventually you arrive at their birds-eye view winery overlooking the Bavarian landscape below.
Named 37’ Cellars because both Frank and Chuck coincidentally are music aficionados and owners of 1937 Martin guitars. These Martin guitars considered by those in the know as the “Holy Grail” of flattop guitars. My journey to 37’ Cellars paired some big reds with a few songs played by Chuck. An amazing treat had me paralyzed to the amazing music, the bold flavors of the cabernet sauvignon and an equally drop-jaw view of the valley below. To say that it was memorable is an injustice – in short, it was superbly unforgettable.
