Rogue Valley Wine Country -- 100 degees and Delicious!

July 12, 2008

Just got back from researching the wineries of Southern Oregon's Rogue Valley appellation. The temps hovered around 100 degrees -- pretty hot for us Seattlelites. Kathleen and I succeeded in going to 29 wineries in 5 days (with a side trip to the Oregon Coast to check out Brandy Peak Distillery in Brookings).

Go to the WineTrails section of the site and experience three different WineTrail tours -- Bear Creek Valley WineTrail; Applegate Valley WineTrail; and Illinois Valley WineTrail. Each has their own personality and distinct wineries to enjoy. Hopefully photos do it justice -- but it is hard to capture the beauty of this region. Be sure and take in a play at the Oregon Shakespeare Theatre in Ashland -- must do and bring your bicycle. The Bear Creek Bike Trail goes for miles and miles.

If hunger hits, we really enjoyed Ashland's Lela's and Monet's Restaurants. Both are a bit of a splurge price-wise but well worth it. Cheers! Stayed at the Lithia Springs Inn which I highly recommend but less costly accommodations can be had in the area.
