Cortona...Bellissimo

September 8, 2010

Hungover. My fault. Drank way too much good wine last night. We are staying at the farm villa (Parco Fiorito) of Roberto Russo on the southern edge of Tuscany. The trip was arranged through Doumina Whyman of Small Vineyards Travel (see www.smallvineyardstravel.com). A native Washingtonian, Doumina has a home in Tuscany and knows the best places to see, eat and sleep. She's fantastic and without her guidance, we'd be sunk.

It is agritourism at its finest and everything pairs great with the wine. The music. The art. The food. Our guide Giovanni showed us around the hills of Cortona today. Amazingly old ruins built way before the Romans by the Etruscans. Soon I will go for a massage with the hope that the hangover leaves my body...well at least my mind. Tonight we will dine with a group of Danish tourists that are also staying here at Parco Fiorini. We will uncork more of Roberto's 2008 Tuscan blend. I have 2 hours to get well! Ciao Ciao.
