Many people are surprised to learn that Walla Walla was voted the 2005 Wine Destination of the Year by Sunset Magazine. Walla Walla you say? Yep, the Walla Walla that you drove through with your parents isn't the same.

With names like Leonetti, Cayuse, L'Ecole No. 41, Woodward Canyon, Canoe Ridge, Five Star Cellars, Spring Valley Vineyard, and many more Walla Walla has attracted the best of best of winemaking talent. Yes, it is the soil and the climate that helps explain why this Wine Country has emerged as a "Napa of the North." But, there is another key ingredient you will discover in just a day's journey. Namely, the winemaking community is incredibly collegial and pulls together to help each other with issues they mutually share.

With over 100 wineries and more than 40 wineries with a dedicated tasting room open to the public, plan a number of excursions to discover why this region is considered the State's epicenter for fine wine. And that's what makes Walla Walla Wine Country such a great wine destination - you can go back a number of times and with each visit discover new wineries and tasting rooms that offer award winning Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Viognier, Semillon and more. It's all there for the tasting.

True confession...I have not had the pleasure of visiting Gardena Creek but now you got me curious. I really want to go there now.
