"Boundaried" on the north by the Yakima Valley and on the south by the majestic Columbia River this area is home to some of the state's most celebrated vineyards, including Champoux Vineyard, Destiny Ridge, Andrew Vineyard, Alder Ridge, Canoe Ridge, and Zephyr Ridge. The soil, wind, moisture, gentle southern slopes and proximity to the Columbia River all conspire to create intense fruit. A partial list of the premium wineries that source their grapes from Horse Heaven Hills includes Alexandria Nicole Cellars, Andrew Will, Betz Family Winery, the Washington wineries of Ste Michelle Wine Estates-Col Solare, Columbia Crest, Chateau Ste. Michelle, and Northstar-as well as Januik Winery, L'Ecole No 41, O-S Winery, Soos Creek, Three Rivers, Quilceda Creek Vintners, and Woodward Canyon.
The few wineries that are in the Horse Heaven Hills are a joy to visit. It is a required field trip for all WineTrail enthusiasts to visit Columbia Crest at Patterson. Close by is the family-owned McKinley Springs Winery; to get there you pass through some of the most spectacular vineyards the Northwest has to offer. You will want to pack your camera. Bon voyage!
